Programme Overview
Training Those Who Train Others
DOK can only reach so many people directly. The Train the Trainers Programme is DOK’s strategy for multiplying impact — creating a growing cadre of qualified dyslexia trainers who can take knowledge and skills back to their schools, counties, and organisations.
Participants complete an intensive training programme that covers both the content expertise and the facilitation skills needed to train others confidently. Graduates leave as certified DOK Trainers, authorised to run DOK-branded workshops in their own contexts.

Curriculum
What You Will Learn
The programme is structured into six comprehensive modules, blending knowledge, skills, and practical facilitation experience.

Understanding Dyslexia
The neuroscience, signs, and lived experience of dyslexia — building a deep, accurate foundation for all trainers.

Identification & Screening
How to identify dyslexia in learners using DOK’s screening tools, and when to refer for formal assessment.

Teaching Strategies
Evidence-based, multisensory instructional strategies that trainers can teach to other educators confidently.

Facilitating Workshops
Adult learning principles, facilitation skills, and how to design and deliver impactful dyslexia training sessions.

Supporting Families
How to engage and equip parents as partners in supporting dyslexic learners at home.

Advocacy & Policy
Understanding Kenya’s educational policy landscape and how to advocate for dyslexic learners within systems.

Who Should Apply?
Experienced Teachers
Classroom teachers and special needs educators with at least 2 years of experience who want to lead school-wide dyslexia training.
School Leaders
Headteachers, deputy heads, and heads of inclusion who want to build capacity in their own institutions.
NGO & CSO Staff
Professionals working in community development, education, or child welfare who want to integrate dyslexia support into their programmes.
DOK Alumni
Graduates of DOK’s certificate course or previous training programmes who are ready to step into a trainer role.
